Report Subscription Error: An error occurred during rendering of the report RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All.
    I have a problem with SSRS 2008.
I created a Report and I created new subscription for it.
The creation of the subscription pass successfully, but when it comes to run the report and send the mail it updates the following status:
Failure sending mail: An error occurred during rendering of the report.Mail will not be resent.
Just to make it clear - when I run the report by myself I can see it ok.
In the log file I see something like this:
WARN: Microsoft.ReportingServices.ReportProcessing.UnhandledReportRenderingException: An error occurred during rendering of the report. ---> Microsoft.ReportingServices.OnDemandReportRendering.ReportRenderingException: An error occurred during rendering of the report. ---> System.MissingMethodException: Method not found: 'Boolean Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.CatalogItemUrlBuilder.IsSupportedProtocol(System.String, Boolean)'.

Does anyone know what's the problem?

    Thanks a lot,

    Tovi

  • Ok, it's for sure not a problem of the mail sevrer.

When I choose to send the report with only link inside (and not the report itself) I do get the mail successfully.

It indeed something with the rendering...

    Does anyone has idea?

  • Is your mail server details configured properly in the subscription?

  • They are. However, I am connected to my mail server through vpn. Can that be a problem?
How can I verify that this is the problem?
(According to the error description, it seems to me like something else).

  • Ok, the problem was solved.
I think the problem was that when you subscribe to report, and you choose to include the report in the mail, you should choose a Report Format.
The format I choosed was wrong.
I cahnged it to HTML and it now works fine.
    Thanks anyway,
    Tovi
