dll and exe application RRS feed

  • Question

  • i have project A, which produces A.dll and contains only 1 cpp file

    Code Snippet

    #include <stdio.h>

    void depster(void){
        printf("Hello World\n");

    i also have project B,  which produces B.exe, and contains only 1 cpp file.

    Code Snippet

    void depster();

    int main(void){
        return 0;

    Even though I have added A to B's dependency list, i get an error saying...
    LINK : fatal error LNK1181: cannot open input file '.\debug\A.lib'

    which is quite reasonable as, this file doesnt exist.

    How do i link my B.exe to A.dll ?

    Why doesnt it tell you that you need .def files to produce .lib from .dll
