how to initialize WPF framework VS 2005 and override image using WPF application RRS feed

  • Question

  • i am new to WPF application development. and already installed .NET framework 3.0 and microsoft expression Blend and Design packages, and having VS2005 on Windows Xp system.

now while creating new VS 2005 project i am not getting the option to create new WPF application, but from expression Blend i am able to create the project and able to modify it using VS 2005.

for example i saw on other site that default VS2005 creation window looks like:

    http://www.codeproject.com/KB/WPF/DotNet_XAML.aspx

Instead of 8 options( Windows Application, class library,Windows Control library, Cystal Reports Application, Windows Application(WPF), WFC service Library, Console application, device application) while selecting C# application i am getting 5 options(Windows Application, class library,Windows Control library,Console application, device application)

but i am not getting option to create Defalut WPF project. how should i apporach for this.

secondly i want to override a exsisting image(*.jpg opened in C# windows application development) with other image (*.xaml) format. is it possible to override?

    thanks in advance

  • Hi,

    Do you have

Visual Studio 2005 extensions for .NET Framework 3.0 (WCF & WPF), November 2006 CTP

installed on your system? I think the reason is in this. You can download it from here :

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=F54F5537-CC86-4BF5-AE44-F5A1E805680D&displaylang=en

About image, can you tell me more about what you want to do?

  • Hi Mykhaylo,

I got the default option for creating the WPF application, thank you for that.

Now i want to crate an WPF application that render an image, the input will be the shape file(.shp) and output will be the image itself according to the information available in shape file.

and i am able to render the image using the shp files.

    http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/UploadFile/nschan/ShapeFile02252007134834PM/ShapeFile.aspx

but now i want to add my own object i can say as (*.jpg or *.xaml) image file in the exsisting rendered image, by providing the inputs in the form of latitude and logitude over the displayed image.

give me some inputs if u can.

    thanks
