Show pushpin immediately RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

When adding a pushpin which is out of the bounds of the current view rectangle, the pushpin only appears when the zoom out animation is fully completed. Our map starts zoomed in on a specific pushpin and some other pushpin are loaded around, out of the current view rectangle. When we zoom out, the pushpins do not appear and we have no idea where other pushpins are until the zooming animation is completely done, which causes some kind of confusion from the user. This did not happen in v6.3. Is there a way to force the pushpin to appear immediately?

    Thank you!

  • This is done for performance reasons. Any object outside of the map view is hidden so that it does not need to be rendered. It becomes visable once the data has come into view and the map has stopped moving. This is a pretty standard behaviour for any map control that has good performance. Note in Bing Maps V6.3 you would have a performance issue once you were over 100 pushpins. In v7 I have had well over 1,000 pushpins on the map without performance issues. If you want you could modify the MapMode to that the view change end event fires faster, or you could disable animation when using the SetView method.
