  • 1) i like to know when we use classic web service called asmx service then what kind of data travel between client & server vice-verse ? is it plain text or xml or html or json.......what?

    how could i check what kind of data is passing between client & server vice-verse .

    2) the same question for wcf. when we use wcf then what kind of data travel between client & server vice-verse ? is it plain text or xml or html or json.......what?

    please discuss the data format and also guide me how to verify the data format.

    3) in classic web service called asmx service how data in binary format  can be pass or exchange between client & server .

  • Try using a sniffer like wireshark or fiddler to capture the data and look yourself.   A service requires a connection that is either base on TCP (http uses TCP as the transport layer) or a Windows connection (it usually referred to a tunnel through the operating system).  The data transfer is a different network layer which can be text, xml, html.  Json is an application layer and not a type of data transfer.

    Most services these days uses http connections and the type of data transfer can be found by looking at the headers with a sniffer.
