Migration from Sybase vers. 7 to SQL Server 2008-2008 R2-2012 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'd like to know if it is possible to migrate table structures and data from a Sybase vers. 7 database to a SQL Server 2008-2008 R2-2012 database.

    Many thanks

  • Hi, thanks for your reply, but the thread refers to migrate from Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise vers. 12 and not from Sybase SQL Anywhere vers. 7.0.

But a migration assistant tool by Microsoft?

    Thanks

  • As a first good solution, but not the best one, could be the following one:

Extracting data from Sybase SQL Anywhere using SSIS through ODBC

    Thanks

  • ASA version 7 is very very old.  You should spend some (perhaps significant) time analyzing the schema and adapting it to fit not only sql server but the enormous advances made in technology over the years.
