  • "No Experience in Coding".  Unfortunately that is likely to be your first barrier.

If you need to jump in urgently (or at very least to experiment with), I would suggest starting out with one of the templates provided with Expression Web.   Start a new site:  Site (menu) > New Site (option) ;  Choose "Templates" (option in the dialogue window), Choose the style/design you want - suggest the "Small Business" or "Organization" variations.   Take a look at a variety of them, view the source code, open the CSS files - see how the pages are constructed.

In conjunction with the above, I would recommend you read some of the resources here:

A noteworthy and very worthwhile exercise for beginners is Cheryl Wise's video tutorial for creating a basic website.

Another worthy site to keep in mind is w3schools tutorials on HTML and CSS.

  • First as already stated you MUST learn at least the basics of CSS and HTML before you can successfully work with EW. In addition to the generic templates that ship with EW, you can dl and install additional ones from Expression Web Default Site Templates Stick with the ones in the basic series to start with. They are all heavily commented in both the html and css to help you in the learning process. There are also numerous tutorials to assist in working with them.

BUT first spend some time with the learning resources for CSS and HTML.

Heh, heh... Short answer: You don't. Not in EW, anyway, unless you are prepared to learn HTML and CSS, at a minimum. Expression Web is a professional Web development tool, which requires that you know the basic technologies of the Web to use it successfully. See the Prerequisites for Using Microsoft Expression Web to get an idea of the knowledge you will need.
