Discussion list outlook sync problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • I came across a blog and learnt something I never knew about SharePoint 2007 (love it when that happens).

Any how this is if a discussion board is synced with outlook and emails are dragged into the discussion board using outlook then the emails are parsed and stored as a discussion thread if the subject is the same. It removes the RE:

The above all works well but there is one bug with this process.

That is if a reply is received to an email that has already been replied to and the previous one is stored within the discussion list then the next one doesn't get stored correctly. In fact it really messes up storing this second reply as a new item with no title, and no content.

So if an email discussion follows the below then it works

    user 1 sends email
    user 2 replies to email
    user 1 replies to email
    user 2 replies to email

If a thread includes many people then a user or many users will actually reply to the same email (this is common IMO). SharePoint breaks on this as described above. It won't join the correct thread and becomes its own thread with blank data. Yuck!

Can any one see the same or different? Can any one test for me? I am running just SP1 so maybe SP2 helps? Who knows.
