Porting driver from CE 3 to Windows Mobile 6 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We have an existing legacy USB device driver that runs under Windows CE 3 and would like to port it to Windows Mobile 6 to support a couple of target handsets for one our customers.  I was wondering if would be possible to rebuild this driver for Windows Mobile 6 with readily available tools.  From reading other threads, I've gathered that the version of Platform Builder that supports Windows Mobile is only released to the handset OEMs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hello,

I think your issue should be raised in the Windows Embedded Compact Platform Development. I believe they will know more information of this issue than us, and I will move this one to that forum.

    Thanks for your understanding,

    Best regards,

    Jesse

  • As you said WM 6.0 tools are released to OEM only but, since WM 6.0 is based on Windows CE 5.0, you can download the trial for this OS (http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=3584) so you should have all the libraries to rebuild the driver.
