Load Test Agent Configuration fails.. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I'm using Virtual User Pack with VSTS Ultimate and I'm facing problem while cofiguring Test Agent with Controller..

The detals of environment are as follows -

Note : Systems are in Workgroup mode and a user account with same password is created  in both systems (controller and agent). Also the Operating system is Windows XP (in both systems)

    1. VSTS 2010 Ultimate and Virtual User pack Controller - are in same machine (administrator account, and account is added to TeamTest user groups i.e. all the 3 required user groups)

    2. Test Agent is on a different machine  and Agent is setup in 'service' mode.

When configuring the Agent with Controller.. Confifuration fails.

The user name details are correct, and Agent machine is able to Ping the controller.

I'm unable to find what could be cause for the configuration failing..

    Please advise.

    ~Hem

  • Hello Hem,

You can refer to the below part(Problems with security requirements in Windows WorkGroups. - stchen) of this article to see if it helps: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms404660(VS.90).aspx

If it does not help, here is a great troubleshooting guide about agents and controller you can refer to: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/vststest/thread/df043823-ffcf-46a4-9e47-1c4b8854ca13

  • Hi Edwer,

    Thanks for your reply.

To be honest, the troubleshooting guide wasn't really helpful ( content is not present under the section 'Test Controller not connected to TFS server').

I've managed the solve problem. Previously I was trying to configure the Agent with Controller using Controller's IP address, and configuration has failed.

Now I've tried with system name and it worked. My Controller and Agent were in two different networks, so I've added an entry in hosts file for Controller IP and used the same name during Agent's configuration.
