Missing rights ?? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,
    Have an application that connects with a specific user to a database. Granted dbo rights on database to this user but application don't work properly. If I grant sysadmin rights to user all works fine, but granting sysadmin is not what I want. Is there a way to find out what rights (I guess user needs to access some objects in master) the user needs?

    Is there a way to use profiler to show me the objects the user want's to access but cannot cause of missing rights ?
    (What events do I need to to trace in profiler?)

    TIA

  • Try  this

    Open Profiler
    Select Show all Event and Show all column

    Locate Error and Warning->select Exception

    Locate Stored procedure ->Select SP:StmtStarting

    T-sql->SQL:StmtStaring

    Click Column Filer

    Enter your db id in DatabaseId and  enter user name in Loginname field

    OK->Run

    Also  you can do

    With in the userdb

    grand the user DatabaseOwner, db_datareader and db_datawriter permission

    and if you are using SP's ,function grand execute permission to users on each of those object  (sp,fun)
