IoT Hub Manual FailOver for devices enrolled and provisioned with DPS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Does the manual failover option for IoT hub also support the devices that are enrolled/ provisioned using Device provisioning service for individial or group enrollment with certificates? How certificates are managed with secondary IoT hub? Are certificates migrated? If yes then how?

  • Hello ShardulSPradhan,

More details about Manul FailOver can be found in the article that outlines the IoT Hub high availability and disaster recovery features of the IoT Hub service. Use the How-to guide for manual failover as a step-by-step guide to perform manual failover for your hub. You can also check out the Internet of Things Show on Channel 9 to learn more about Azure Manual Failover. Manual FailOver replicates following Recovery Point Objectives(RPO).

Device Provisioning Service is used for IoT Hub that enables zero-touch, just-in-time provisioning to the right IoT hub without requiring human intervention, enabling customers to provision millions of devices in a secure and scalable manner. Actually  the device and message queue are all stored in IoT Hub instance. So Manual FailOver supports the deivces that are enrolled using DPS. For customer, the migration is almost seamless.

    Best Regards,

    Michael
