acceptable tts voice for language teaching RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am a .NET developer who is planning to create a software helping foreigners effectively learn English. For that, I'd like to use TTS voice that sounds very similar to normal american. So I tried all TTS demo over the internet and found I can't use default tts voice like microsoft sam, mary, etc as they sounds like robot without intonation nor word stress. In my opinion - although I am not a American either, Acapella, Voiceware, and Loquendo TTS voices are close bets. But as you might know, those TTS engines are very expensive or impossible to include in my software. AT&T Natural voice didn't sound like "natural" but better than microsoft default voices. However, its interfaces seems to be provided for java and C++ according to its manual. Is there any other good tts voice engine I can include in my L2 software?

    Thanks
