Hi,
If you are a college or university student they may have it available for download.
Otherwise no, I do not believe it is freely available.
Anyway it is outdated now.
Get the free Visual Basic .Net 2008 Express edition as an IMAGE file from here.>>
http://www.microsoft.com/express/download/
or get it starting from here.>>
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/express/future/bb421473.aspx
VB.Net is similiar to VB6 in some ways but has lots more to it.
You can also install VB6 if you ever manage to buy or aquire a copy.
IMPORTANT NOTE: VB6 or / and VB.Net will
install to different folders anyway so you can have
both VB6 and VB.Net on your PC if you want to.
Try computer fairs, Ebay or Ebid or even Amazon for VB6 or version 6 of Visual Studio ( which contains VB6 ).
http://www.ebay.com/
http://www.ebid.net/
http://www.amazon.com/

Try looking on ebay.
The product is not supported any more. It is however possible to obtain a downgrade solution but it costs some money

VB6 was not a free product like express.

Hi John,
Thanks for replying. I am aware of the Express versions being available for download but unfortunately I have a legacy system written in VB6 which needs amending and the client is not prepared to pay for the conversion to VB.net. So unless I can find a VB6 install....Im stuck.

Hello!
Sorry for the bump,I currently do need to downgrade any version(and edition) of Visual Studio in order to get Visual Studio 6.0 and the link given carries no relevant information.
How do I go about it?
Thanks!Thursday, June 25, 2009 8:19 PM -
Hello!
@ Mehta, First of all, this thread is almost 2yrs old and was already marked as answer, "the link given carries no relevant information" because VS6.0 is no more support by Microsoft. And for the copy of VS6, try to buy it from ebay or look for some VS6.0 textbooks that come with CD.

Hi Emannuel,
Please delete two of your three duplicate posts above.
By the way, as Microsoft retain the copyright in VB6 I don't think they would
be too happy if you give copies of it out or make it available for download.
I can not understand anyone still wanting to use VB6 myself, some
schools and colleges even use it ( STILL!! ) to teach programming.

John

Well said John ;-)
VB6 is still a copyrighted product.
It is available to MSDN subscribers who are able to download products.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/buy.aspx
But you may be better and cheaper alternative to find a copy on ebay.
Alternatively call you local Microsoft office and discuss downgrade solutions with them but it will cost - VB6 was never a free product like VB Express.

I can help: Because no one gave them a choice.

jbmckimHi,
You should not post it anywhere online to make it available for download as Microsoft still own the copyright to VB6.
If you post any download links here, do not be suprised if that post is later deleted by a forum moderator.

John
