Problems while moving AD from Samba to Windows Server 2008 R2 RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hello,

Currently I have a domain running on Samba 4.0.6. Everything was working smooth. Now I want to use some more advantages of Windows Server machine so I decided to move the AD there.

Here are the steps I have taken:

    1. joined Win Server 2008 R2 to the Samba domain
    2. Promote server to DC
    3. Move all FSMO roles to Win machine
    4. Wait for DFS and DNS replication

Then I switched off the Samba server. When I did it, the domain was immediately unavailable. DNS was working fine. When I opened ADUC, it told me that domain is unavailable.

So I switched Samba back on, everything was working smooth.

I also noticed that SYSVOL has not been replicated, so I copied SYSVOL over from Linux to Windows.

Any ideas what I have forgotten? I'm sure it would already work if it was Win AD.

    Thanks for help.

    Lukas
