Blend for Visual Studio getting unhandled exception in Designer View

    Question

  • I just loaded my Windows Store App into Blend and immediately got the following exception message:

    System.Exception

The provided package is already installed, and reinstallation of the package was blocked. Check the AppXDeployment-Server event log for details. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80073CFB)

I looked up this error and found the following thread that said that an update fixed this issue: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/toolsforwinapps/thread/737be9a1-66bd-47fe-ba26-406670b5bd97

Is this not the case with Blend?

This is the version info that I am currently using:

    Microsoft Visual Studio Ultimate 2012
    Version 11.0.51106.01 Update 1
    Microsoft .NET Framework
    Version 4.5.50709

    Installed Version: Ultimate

    Architecture and Modeling Tools   04940-004-0038003-02174
    Microsoft Architecture and Modeling Tools

    Visual C# 2012   04940-004-0038003-02174
    Microsoft Visual C# 2012

    Blend Version: 5.0.31017.0

Any help would be much appreciated!

  • Hi ioe_coolish,

Does the issue only happen to one specific project? Or it happens to any projects?

Have you tried re-boot the computer?

Could you please check the error logs at EventViewer : Applications and Service \ Microsoft \ Windows \ AppxDeployment - Server and post it?

    Thanks,

  • Can you please try updating the package version in the App Manifest. Also make sure you uninstall all previous installations of the App from the start menu.
