Kinect Sensor v2 for Windows not working on my ASUS G73JW RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just received the Kinect v2 for Windows and am trying to get it to work on my ASUS G73JW laptop. I updated my OS to Windows 8.1 Pro and I downloaded the SDK for the Kinect. I'm currently looking at:

I meet the 64-bit processor, USB 3.0 and Windows 8.1. My big concern is that my processor isn't fast enough. My PC info says I have an IntelCore i7 CPU Q740 @1.73GHz... However this forum says the Kinect v2 requires Physical dual-core 3.1 GHz... Has anyone succeeded in running the Kinect with a processor similar to mine?

I should also mention my graphics card is Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M ; VRAM: 1.5GB

And any ideas of how I can get my Kinect v2 for Windows to work?

  • I have the same model of computer and didn't work either :(

I'm currently working on a Surface Pro. I think the problem comes for the USB controllers.

  • From what I could find, the G73JW uses a Fresco USB 3.0 host controller.  You need an Intel or Renesas chipset host controller for the Kinect v2.  That's probably the root of the issue.
