Debugging SQL 2008 in VS 2008 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been using VS 2008 in Server Explorer to debug SQL 2000 Stored Procedures (e.g. setting break points. step into) w/o problems. Once we swithced to SQL 2008, I am unable to debug. The following are the settings I have:

    1) Use Windows Account to establish connection.

    2) execute sp_addsrvrolemember 'Domain\Name', 'sysadmin' to make sure I have sysadmin right

    3) execute sp_enable_sql_debug

When I tried to step into store procedure, the following error occured

"T-SQL execution ended without debugging. You may not have sufficient permission to debug. Click Help for more information"

Can anyone help me to pinpoint where the issues are ?

  • You  may need to launch Visual Studio instance as administrator, by right-clicking VS icon, and select "run as administrator".
