  • Hi,

  • Hi Beata,

You can use Office Web Apps Server 2013 (SharePoint server 2013) with Office 2010. But it is not recommended. There could be limitations when using SharePoint 2013 with office 2010. Some features do not work with Office 2010. For example, user cannot successfully drag and drop documents into a library.

I recommend you use office 2013 with 32-bit to experience entire SharePoint 2013 features.

    Best regards,

    Linda Zhang

  • Hi Linda,

Thank you very much for your help!

    1. Is there a list of the features that won't work with Office Web Apps Server 2013 and Microsoft Office 2010?

    2. In this scenario (Office Web Apps Server 2013 and Microsoft Office 2010), will the Microsoft Office documents open automatically in the Web or will the user be forced to save them locally and open them in desktop app?

    Best regards,

    Beata

  • Office and OWA have very limited to zero interaction between them. Are you sure you mean Office 2010, as in Word, Excel etc?

The settings to control if a document opens in OWA or in your local client are not configured in either of them, it's determined by the program that triggers the open command. In most cases that's SharePoint and depends in turn on Site Setttings and the List override settings.

  • Hi Alex,

Yes, that's correct: Microsoft Office 2010 = Microsoft Word 2010, Microsoft Excel 2010, Microsoft PowerPoint 2010, etc.

Thank you very much for this clarification!

    Best regards,

    Beata
