Windows CE taskbar missing RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am using a device running Windows CE Core 5.0 and by default the taskbar is disabled. I believe it is disabled from the registry, and i cannot access the registry without the start menu. Can someone tell me how i can enable the taskbar??

     Thank you.

  • Did you create the image for the device, or is this a device you bought and it had Windows CE installed on it? If the latter; please contact the device manufacturer for support. If the former; add the standard shell to your image.

  • Adding to Michel's excellent response, there is no standard registry setting to disable the task bar.  So if the task bar isn't visible, then there are three possibilities that I can think of:

    1. The shell that you see isn't actually the Explorer shell, but instead a shell that your OEM developed
    2. The shell that you see is the Explorer shell, but it has been modified to disable the task bar by your OEM
    3. The OEM has included an application that closes the taskbar window
