  • hello all

after i have copied and compiled the simbatt sample (from Github) using a KMDF template in visual studio 2015, i have tested it on a virtual machine (Windows 7) using OSROnline application OSR driver loader, i got this message as error :

The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

    (error code number 1058).

    any suggestions or solutions?

  • No, installing with that INF file cannot be done with a right click.   Open the Device Manager, choose the Computer in the device view, and then under Action select "Add Legacy Hardware", choose the manual install, choose the "Show All Devices", and then select the "Have Disk" button to point to the INF file.

The other approach is to use DevCon https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/devtest/devcon

  • You need a INX file (which will produce an INF) and install it that way.   The OSR Driver Loader is for legacy devices, not for KMDF drivers.

  • thank you, but the INX and the INF files are already exist in the project, also, when i right click on the INF file to install it, it gives me :

The INF file you selected does not support this method of installation.

  • i have done what you said to me, now a after i clicking on the OK button (of the Select Device window), a message appears:

The folder you specified does not contain a compatible software driver fior your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with Windows 32-bit systems

    remarks:

1/ i have built the project on 32-bit, debug then release mode.

2/ i designed the project for Windows 7 , desktop mode.

3/ i use VMware application as virtual machine where i have installed a Windows 7 (but, here, i am not sure about the bit-type of that windows).
