Session State Management in Windows Azure Web Roles using Azure Table Storage

    Question

  • We want to use Azure Table for Session State Management in Windows Azure Web Roles.

We used following reference for Azure Table Storage
    https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/cie/2013/05/17/session-state-management-in-windows-azure-web-roles/

We were able to get code for Microsoft.Samples.ServiceHosting.AspProviders which using Azure Storage client library (version 1.7) for storing Session state on Azure Table. We can use this ASP Provider for session state.
    https://azureproviders.codeplex.com/

But currently it’s not supported by Microsoft and in the latest version of Windows Azure Storage (7.2.1), some classes and methods are obsolete and there is no update on this.

Can you please help us to get ASP Provider for session state using latest Windows Azure Storage client library.

    Thanks

  • Hi Ashutosh,

    Thanks for posting here!

Since Azure Table Storage session provider is currently not supported by Microsoft we recommend using Azure Redis Cache for session state management. To use the caching session state provider, first configure your cache, and then configure your ASP.NET application for cache using the Redis Cache Session State NuGet package.

Click here for more details on using Azure Redis Cache. Caching best practices can be found here.
