OID strings in Biztalk orchestration files RRS feed

  • Question

  • If I open an orchestration file with a text editor, I can see OID string relating to each orchestration element.

    For example:

    <om:Element Type="PortType" OID="d7d543e5-3edd-437f-9daf-20620fd50b82"

Could someone tell me what are these OIDs and what are they used for? I am planning to create a Biztalk application wizard and for this I have created simple Biztalk application I'm going to use as a baseline for all of my projects. I would like to know is it safe to use same orchestration file for all of my projects, if the orchestration files share same OIDs?

  • Hi,

There is a BizTalk Software Factory available through CodePlex that can do this for you. I would recommend using that instead of what you trying to do now. OID is Object Identifier generated for each object with in orchestrations and I am not sure if it wise to reuse those in other orchestrations.
