Body Tracking when Seated RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We are trying to use the Kinect sensor and SDK v2.0 to track a seating and a walking body at the same time. Specifically, we have a body 1 walking slowly around the seating body 2. This is very similar to examination in the doctor office. A patient sitting still and the doctor does the exam. We have a problem. The sensor is loosing track of the seating body after the second body blocks it. This is ok, however, the sensor does not always regain the tracking of the seating body. The seating body has to make a move in order for it to be tracked again. Is there anything we can do in order to gain back the seated body tracking after this blockage. We also see that many times the standing and the seating bodies get merged together into one tall body. How to avoid this?

  • Unfortunately the Kinect SDK does not allow control of how bodies are tracked. In my experience seated people are recognized slower than standing people. Looking in the direction of the Kinect and moving often helps for quicker recognition.

    kind regards,
