SMB V2 on Windows CE 6.0 RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    Hello,

we have a WindowsCE 6.0 System on market which uses Net Use to integrate a Server drive. As far as I know CE6 uses SMB Version 1. Many companies and also newer Windows versions switch off SMB V1 support. Is there a possibility to install SMB V2 support in the field? Thanks.

  • If you write it yourself; yes. I don't know of any off-the-shelf SMB v2 component for CE 6.0.

  • Hello, Michel,

I wouldn't ask questions if I could write it.
Is there anyone who has or could do something like this?
Since this is an important feature, we can buy it if I know where.

  • Steffen,

Visuality Systems had already developed an SMB2 and SMB3 solutions for Win CE.

    Google "YNQ SMB library".

    Good luck.

  • I know I'm at risk for annoying you again with my reply, but this is for the greater good:

Just in case you did not know (and just in case this is an option for you or your customers); you can turn on SMB v1 support in Windows 10.

Click start, type "Turn windows features on", click the result (or find it in control panel), then check the box in front of "SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support" (or expand and only check "SMB 1.0/CIFS Client" to lower the security risk), then press OK to install.

    Good luck,
