Additional panes in the status bar of a VS2010 isolated shell app ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I need to add application specific text information to the status bar in a VS2010 isolated application and I'm looking at the IVsStatusBar interface.

I do not want to use the feedback region in the status bar as this is overwritten by other events in the application that need to use the feedback region to update the status.  I am aware that animation icons could be added to the status bar.
But is it possible to define additional "user-defined" status panes in the status bar of a VS2010 isolated shell application for displaying just plain text ?.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Sourabh,

Is there any mechanism for which we could hook into events when the user clicks an icon displayed in the status bar when an icon is added using the IvsStatusBar.Animation(..) ?.

For example, In VS2010, Resharper 5.0 displays the "Solution Analysis" Icon and the "Pending Errors" icon in the status bar. These icons can be double-clicked to bring up a corresponding dialog and also the icons themselves have tooltips. Is there some interface that would enable me to do this in the VS 2010 SDK or does this involve something more lower level (hooking into windows messages, etc) ?

    Thanks,
