  • Question

  • Do I need to install language pack for english on sharepoint server 2010 as the Installation media itself is in English and also what would be the case while upgrading to SP1 should I install english language pack SP1?

  • Hi.

    No and Yes.

Language pack for English are included in the English SharePoint installation media.

You will need to install the English SP1, since you installed English media from start. (remember also to install SP1 for Foundation first and SP1 for Server next) but you will not need the English Languagepack SP1.(included)

If you add other languages, you will need the SP1 for that language pack, not for SharePoint.

  • So if English is the only language that I need and will be using with sharepoint 2010 then I need not install any language packs while upgrading to SP1?but if I need any other language then I should install the language pack SP1 for that language with updating foundation SP1 and sharepoint server SP1.

    Thanks
