SQL Server client in virtual pc RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have Windows 7 x64 running SQL 2008 r2 dev edition as a host and have a virtual Win 2005 environment as a guest vpc. I've installed the client only tools on the guest but the connection is very slow. All network protocals for SQL server are enabled except Via. I have selected the network adaptor in the guest vm instead of memory or NAT (neither of these worked). I have also disabled the firewall on the guest and the private firewall on Windows 7.

Is there something I'm missing? The performance degrade seems to be worse using SNAC through odbc (the app I'm using requires this) than running sql through the guests SQL SMS console.
