Can't delete email after removing managedfolderandpolicy RRS feed

  • Question

  • I recently attempted to remove a managed folder and policy from a mailbox in Exchange 2010 SP2 using the powershell commandlet set-mailbox -identity first.last@xyz.com -removemanagedfolderandpolicy.  The mailbox had several custom managed folders configured - most of which were already empty.  After running the commandlet - I was unable to delete emails from the custom managed folder that still had emails in it.  It appears that these emails/folders are read-only.  The error message I am getting when I try to delete an email from this folder is as follows:

Some items cannot be deleted.  They were either moved or already deleted, or access was denied.

Has anyone encountered a similar issue when removing managed folders and policy?  If so - is there a solution for this problem?  Thanks!
