can I "publish" my visual studio app and also force it to appear on the user taskbar? RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I publish my code from Visual Studio, it creates a "setup" file that the user can run.  But I want to give the user the option to pin the resulting program's icon to the taskbar (or to put it on the desktop).  Otherwise, he won't find the program again, unless he does a search for its name.

Is there a way to do this?

    Thanks

  • Right click your project in Solution Explorer.

    Choose properties.

    Select the Publish tab

Make sure "The application is available offline as well" is selected.

Click the options button to the right of this.

    Choose Manifests

Check the "Create desktop shortcut" box at the bottom of the list

    Hope that helps.
