Blend Boot Camp? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am looking for a good Bootcamp style training session in Blend/WPF/XAML for designers in the Seattle/Redmond area. Any suggestions?

  • Guess I'll chime in, too. I'm surprised that there aren't more opportunities here in the Seattle area.

  • Me, too.

Sheesh, in the shadow of Microsoft, and there are no hands-on training opportunities available?  I'm not exactly sure what that says about this set of products, but it's certainly discouraging.

I've taken several runs at this thing and I can't get past Square One.  I can muddle my way through all the "Brand-A" products (even the "F-product" that Blend is so frequently referred to as a killer of...). I can get through elementary javascript, HTML, actionscript, etc., etc.  But I'll be damned if I can get so much as a button to rollover and change from red to blue in Blend/Silverlight.  I've never encountered a product that was so frustrating, that made me feel like I was such a complete idiot every time I touch it.

Judging from others' posts (here and elsewhere) I know I'm not the only one who has found the learning curve for these products to be more of a brick wall than an upward slope.

How about some training resources, guys?  Most of what I find online is waaay old and obsolete...

  • Howdy all,

I've run some training camps in a few counties around the world, but could never get enough concentrated interest to run a large course so I specialised in corporate onsite training which is mostly very expensive.

If I could generate enough interest here in the US, I would look at running a hardcore 2 day weekend course in NYC which would bring the price down for each participant considerably, but the key words here are - enough interest. I am talking 50-100 people.
