  • Hi Bala,

    There are a lot

    VS 2010

    ·         SharePoint Explorer for site exploration

    ·         SharePoint 2010 project and item templates

    ·         Visual designers for core scenarios

    ·         Migration path for Visual Studio 2008 for WSS 3.0

    ·         Extensible by 3rd party developers

    VS 2008

For SharePoint 2010 development you need

    1) http://keutmann.blogspot.com/2009/12/wspbuilder-2010-beta.html (WSPBuilder 2010 Beta )

    2) you need make sure you do the following:

    • add assembly reference to the proper Microsoft.SharePoint.dll (i.e. version 14)
    • target .NET 3.5
    • target 64-bit CPU (or AnyCPU)

  • Yeh ..

Visual Studio 2010 allows you to create native "SharePoint projects" .. which can automatically package and deploy WSPs. It also includes a whole load of new project items (such as "empty element", "Module" and "mapped folders").

Visual Studio 2008 on the other hand .. does not contain ANY SharePoint integration natively whatsoever.
