Sensor Diagnostic Tool won't run. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've tried running it from Explorer, the command prompt, and from the vs command prompt shortcuts both normally and running as administrator.

    It always fails with an entry in the Event Viewer stating:

    Application: sensordiagnostictool.exe
    Framework Version: v4.0.30319
    Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.
    Exception Info: System.UnauthorizedAccessException
       at Windows7.Location.Internal.COMLocation.RegisterForReport(Windows7.Location.Internal.ILocationEvents, System.Guid ByRef, UInt32)
       at Windows7.Location.LocationProvider..ctor(UInt32)
       at SensorDiagnosticTool.FormDiagTool..ctor()
       at SensorDiagnosticTool.Program.Main()

    Any assistance in determining why it won't start would be helpful. I'm running it on a windows 10 Home edition Asus laptop with the following version: 1709 and OS build: 16299.309

  • I figured it out. I had location services turned off in settings for this laptop and so the tool was crashing when it attempted to access location data.
