UAC/IE Protected mode - BLOCKS my Namespace Extension RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Iv'e been updating my namespace extension from winXP to win7-32bit.

All seems to be working except for the next scenario -

When I open a file upload window in Internet Explorer 8/9 (titled "Choose File to Upload", open file common dialog browser window) I can't access the my namespace unless I'm equipped with Administrator privileges, or when I surf with "Enable Protected mode" (found in Security tab of the Internet Options) is turned off or the site is listed as a trusted site.

I also discovered that if I turn off the windows UAC then everything is working well and I can view and access files and folders in my NSE in the upload window.

I don't have any idea why viewing my NSE requires admin privileges?! While working under other common dialog windows or just a simple explorer window all is working fine with a standard user privileges.

I am using a release version so it's probably not a log writing access problem (sometimes NSE's use special folders such as "Program Files" for log files).

    Any ideas guys?

    Thanks in advance.
