Background task Toast notification RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    I want to implement a background task where i want to fetch some values periodically from web using http request and show that values in the form of toast notification even if the app is closed. i want to use it in the form of an alert. I have seen toast notification sample provided by msdn (for a tile update from background)but i am not able to use it as an alert and run it as a background task.

    Kindly provide me with solutions about how to go about it.

Answers

  • - make sure you got a valid background task and runs (breakpoint?)

    - is toast enabled in your manifest file

    it should work. can you share code? then can help you better

  • You can use the BackroundWorker to make a Async Method.

    C# Example:

     public void something()

    {

    BackroundWorker work = delegate(object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e)

      {
    	//do something async
      };
      work.RunWorkerAsync();
    }
