  • I have freshly installed VS 2017 community rtm. Going to Extensions and Updates gives this:

  • Hi,

Can you launch the VS installer again (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\Installer) and Repair?

If that fails, use Process Monitor (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/processmonitor.aspx) to guess the module that cannot be found.

  • Hi markgoldin,

    Welcome to MSDN forum.

Please open regedit.exe and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\CLSID\{177F0C4A-1CD3-4DE7-A32C-71DBBB9FA36D}, then you will find the corresponding registry key. After that, see if the "InprocServer32" entry exists with the value “C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\VisualStudio\Setup\x64\Microsoft.VisualStudio.Setup.Configuration.Native.dll”. If not, please back up the registry table and modify it and change the value to the correct one.

    Best regards,

    Joyce

  • I have the same issue. The registry key is valid an point to file C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\VisualStudio\Setup\x64\Microsoft.VisualStudio.Setup.Configuration.Native.dll

But folder "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\VisualStudio\Setup" can't be read even with administrator access level.

I was able to open it in "Far Manager" after request for admin access level but not under command prompt with administrator access level. But I wosn't been able to copy this file even in Far manager because of no access rights.

  • Give the full control to the current user to access the folder.

    Joyce
