Usage of 512x512 tiles RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Please, I would like to use 512x512 tiles instead of the 256x256 default ones, but I get a 404 error, with the interactive SDK code sample too (https://www.bingmapsportal.com/isdk/ajaxv7#TileLayers1) when I'm accessing the tile server (http://www.microsoft.com/maps/isdk/ajax/layers/lidar/xyz.png), as reported by my JavaScript console !

I suppose its URL was changed...

Thanks in advance for your appreciated help :-)

  • That isn't for the base Bing Maps tiles, but for the tiles in a custom service. Bing Maps tiles are only provided in 256x256 sizes currently.

  • If the tiles you will be loading are from your own system and 512x512 in size, then simply set the width and height in the TileSourceOptions to 512.

As for that code sample, it looks like the tile layers that were used in the past for that sample is missing. I believe this is a known issue for the sample, but a minor one.

  • Thank you Ricky for your response !

The main goal, as explained in this tutorial, was to decrease the traffic by using bigger tiles but always downloaded from the Microsoft's Bing Maps databases.

Is it still possible to use this feature and how ?
