Low cool storage upload speed on US East 2 (LRS) RRS feed

  • We have Basic A2 (US East 2) instance uploading to cool storage (LRS, US East 2). We have 200 MB file uploading 6-30 seconds. If we use Basic A2 (EU North) instance uploading to cool storage (LRS, EU North), we have 200 MB file uploading 2-4 seconds.

    Instances on both US East 2 and EU North are almost the same running Ubuntu with latest updates. We are using MS Azure Pyhon SDK for blobs.

    Why cool storage on US East 2 has at least 3 times lower upload bandwidth than EU North one?

    Thank you for posting here!

    According to different data center locations the speed might be varies from your location.

    Have you ever wondered what Azure region would be the fastest to host your applications when those applications are accessed from your location?  Obviously the closest data center would probably be the best choice (each region has multiple data centers), but how do you know what data center is the closest?  And how can you easily confirm the closest data center is the fastest? 

    Advised to check your Azure speed for clear understanding.

  • You didn't get the question.

    We are writing to cloud storage locally. I mean cloud storage and virtual machine are in the same location. That's why we expect speed to be high. It is high on EU North, but very low on US East 2.
