App Development without Developer Licence and no Internet access RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi community,

is there a way to develop a Windows 8 App without using Store or having a developer licence?

    My situation:

Working on a development client pc. Nothing installed, no connection to the internet. Windows 8 and Visual Studio have been provisioned and installed by the customer. So i hope you understand my dilema, i do not have a network connection, so i can not get a developer licence by Visual Studio and if i would have network, i do not want to use my personal LiveID.

How do you develop Apps for Windows 8 which should not be shared in the Store and which are not for public use?

  • Hi Martin,

Unfortunately there is no way to achieve this. You will need to have an "active" developer License to perform development/debugging of a Windows Store app. Once you get a developer license, you can debug apps on that machine.

However, these apps do not need to go to the Store if they are meant for a private use, such as apps for internal company usage. This process of deploying apps is called as side-loading of apps and such apps do not need to go to the store.

You can take a look at these links that talk about how the side-loading process works.
