CompareDocuments method returns a document without track changes RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are using CompareDocuments method to show the changes between two versions of a Word Document. The output of the method is being fed into an XpsConverter and then gets loaded into a DocumentViewer control.

There was one instance that the viewer did not show the tracked changes but we could not consistently reproduce it.

Are there known issues where the comparedocuments method, the xpsconverter or the documentViewer is ignoring the tracked changes?

  • Hi Aldwin,

The CompareDocuments method will compare two documents and return a Document object which represents for another document containing the differences between the two documents. To make sure it's not the problem with the XpsConverter or DocumentViewer, you could firstly save the returned Document as a normal document file. Check if it has any problems. For VBA code to compare documents and save the returned document, please check this MSDN article:

Using the CompareDocuments Method in Word

By the way, it would be better to post your code here, so that we can reproduce your problem and troubleshoot the issue.
