IVsDataConnectionSupport setting my connection string improperly RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a managed data provider for .NET.  The Visual Studio 2008 designer correctly runs a test connection against my data source when I put my connection string in, but when I click OK, it passes the following string to my ConnectionString property setter: "Microsoft.Data.ConnectionUI.DataConnectionDialog+BasicConnectionProperties".

How can I work around this?

  • Hi Robert

I need a little more information from you:
Are you trying to implement a DDEX provider to expose your custom or third-party data source object in Visual Studio?
    Thanks

  • Hi Weifeng,

This was over 2 1/2 years ago.  I gave up and took a different approach to the problem, because I wasn't getting any useful answers.  I kept going in circles looking for an answer to my actual question.

    Sorry...

  • I had finally resolved this issue.

    Following is the solution:

    1. check if the connectionstringbuilder class is ready? if not, write one for your data provider

    2. check if you have register your connectionproperties class.

    Thanks,

    Weifeng
