Unable to download Office Developer Tools due to a Runtime error on Microsoft's site RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've been trying to download the Office Developer Tools for several days from multiple systems (from the dev server, my local box, had another developer try, etc). Someone else please give this a go and let me know I'm not crazy.

    1. Navigate to https://www.visualstudio.com/vs/office-tools/
    2. Click "Get Office Developer Tools"
    3. You are redirected to https://www.microsoft.com/web/handlers/WebPI.ashx?command=GetInstallerRedirect&appid=OfficeToolsForVS2015
    4. You receive Runtime Error

Tried from within Visual Studio as well (VS2015 shows Update 2 for Office Developer Tools available). Takes you to the same final destination with the same error.

Please give it a go and let me know your results. Hopefully Microsoft is also paying attention. Thank you!

    UPDATE:

I was finally able to download. As I was writing to this forum, I decided to browse to http://aka.ms/vssignout in order to be COMPLETELY signed out. Visiting the above URL while completely signed out allows you to download the tools. Still a problem, but at least I was able to get the tools. If anyone else runs into this, browse to http://aka.ms/vssignout first.

  • Hi Baker,

I hope you will change the title(subject), if you have succeeded downloading.
