Active session count in ASPStateTempSessions table in ASPState database RRS feed

  • Not sure if this is correct forum for this question, if not please let me know the forum and I will move the question to that forum.
I have a request to figure out current active session. Should I just count the number of rows in APSStateTempSessions table? Also what I found is that the expires column in this table has the date when the row will be purged but is there really a way to know if the session is currently in use or it is just waiting to be purged. The expires column is an hour ahead of the date time when it was created or locked should I only count the rows that are locked?

Thank you very for all your help.
