Document library with folders as a lookup field RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

plese can you help me with this situation :

I have a custom library "MyDocs" (derived from doc library), where folders are enabled. I create custom list "MyList" with multiple lookup filed "MyDocsNames" which refers "MyDoc" list. Everything is OK, but in edit form I can see only directories (Cars, Dozers), not the real documents behind the folders.

    - Cars: - audi.doc

               - ford.pdf

    - Dozers: - ccc.xls

Is there some solution to refer to end level doc in this situation ? Or my design is not supported by design ?

    Thank you

  • Hi Marian,

That's right a look up column will count a folder as a item and displays only Folder.

To get contents inside the folder we have to click on the hyperlink provided with the folder name.

or we can create a cascaded column which shows data inside their respective folders.

refer - http://spcd.codeplex.com/ for Java based cascaded columns.

  • Hi,

thank you for answer. I know, using some programatically practiques I am able to handle folder as hyperlinks and go into its content. But is possible in lookup show only endpoints (end nodes = documents) withou programming ?

    Thank you
