Actions upon digitally signing a document. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi. when someone digitally signs my document, I need the current date and the user's name (taken from the certificate) to appear at the bottom of the document in red. The document is protected and I am using word 2003. Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

  • Hi,

To get the signatures you can use a code like this:

         Dim oSign As Signature

        For Each oSign In ActiveDocument.Signatures
            selection.typetext oSign.Signer & ", " & Format(oSign.SignDate, "yyyy-MM-dd hh:mm:ss") & ", " & oSign.Issuer
        Next

Keep in mind that several persons can sign a document.

  • Hi vertex67,

Thanks for posting in the MSDN Forum.

Would you please clarify some question:

    1.      Who will sign your document?

    2.      Where your document is?

    3.      Do you want to create an add-in to check the document whether be signed? If you don’t want to do this, I recommend you post it in the http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/word . You will receive better server at that place.

    4.      What’s means of bottom? Is it the footer of the document? Or the end of the document?

    Have a good day,

    Tom
