SQL Server 2012 AlwaysOn min 1GB for Sync RRS feed

  • Is there a minimum requirement of 1GB connection between the sites to use AlwaysOn Synchronous-commit mode for the product to be supported by Microsoft?

    I don't know of any connection must be 1GB or you are not supported statements however you want to make sure you have a reliable connection as in the synchronous mode as transactions don't complete on the primary until those transactions have been sent and committed to the log on the secondary therefore any problem with a slow or un-reliable connection between the primary and secondary will lead to performance issues for your clients.

  • Latency is the real issue.  Even with a 10 Gbps LAN there is significant overhead associated with AlwaysOn in synchronous mode.
