Leveling Gantt in Project 2010

Question
-
Hello,
I used the "level all" button to level all the resources in the entire project. When I display the leveling gantt I see the green bars (preleveled tasks). After saving and closing the project, when I open the project again the green bars (preleveled tasks) are not shown, only delay is shown. Why? And is there a method to keep the preleveled tasks visible?
Thanks for any help

I can confirm the behavior you see. If I level resource overallocations, either individually or all at once, I see the pre-leveled schedule Gantt bars in the Leveling Gantt. But if I save the project, close it, and reopen it, the pre-leveled schedule Gantt bars are gone. I do not know why Microsoft made this decision, but I do not believe it is a bug. It believe this is intentional, given the fact that you use the Leveling Gantt immediately following a leveling operation. If you need to keep a copy of the pre-leveled schedule after a leveling operation, you could always display the Preleveled Start and Preleveled Finish columns, insert a couple of spare Date fields, and then copy the Preleveled Start and Preleveled Finish dates into the spare Date fields. Hope this helps.

And/or you could save a Baseline before levelling. If you forget, you can unlevel and then save a Baseline and relevel.Mike GlenProject MVPSee http://tinyurl.com/2xbhc for my free Project TutorialsThursday, January 27, 2011 8:32 PM

Thanks, this works fine as a workaround. Copy/Paste is the best solution. I also tried to use spare Date fields and customized them with a formula setting these dates equal to the Preleveled Start and Finish. When I save, close and reopen the project Preleveled Start and Finish fields show NA (so no bars), the customized fields keep their dates as long as I do not calculate the project.
