Email Template Link from Word RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I've been tasked with adding a link to a word document that opens an email template with pre-populated information for users.

The workflow is, that a user sees a change is needed on a document, clicks on the link / button 'request a change', and then an email window opens with a pre-filled:

    - Email address

    - Subject line is the document reference

    - question prompts for the user to complete

I don't think having an email template 'stored' somewhere that is accessible via the link is going to work given the server set up and location.

Is there a workaround / solution?

  • Email address and subject line can be done with a straightforward url but if you want to also do content in the body of the email then you are going to need a macro (which means the users will need macros enabled).

Examples of vba code to get you started are MailItem.GetInspector and Graham Mayor's post
