Automated testing for background tasks [Windows 8]

    Question

  • My team and I are building a Metro app and would like to integrate some automated testing into our Team City builds.

We are wondering if there is currently a sanctioned method of automating a background task such that we can prove a background task has run without having to wait the unknown amount of time (0 -15 minutes at minimum) until the background task has been triggered, so that we can fully automate our tests?

I’m hoping that we could implement something similar to the Visual Studio capability of being able to start a background task with a button click.

Are there any such methods or tools available?

    Thanks,

    Suzy
