Hi, i didn't know wether or not to post it in here or not - but i've done it anyway.

I've been searching for custom ms access providers for ASP.NET and i found a membership provider at http://www.devx.com/asp/Article/29256#codeitemarea this is a very basic membership provider but at the moment it suits my needs. Anyway, the thing is - i was woundering if anyone has made a role provider or how can i start the basics. Also, having the access provider i am not able to use the ASP.NET Configuration security settings therefore i cannot add users to the roles even if i create them. Is there another way of doing this?

You could use the official Microsoft one: http://blog.krisvandermast.com/UsingAccessInsteadOfSQLServerForYourASPNETApplicationServices.aspx

do you think i can take the AccessRoleProvider.cs file from that and place into my current web-site?

because i prefer to have my own membership provider purely for the simplicity.

Yes you can.  You can also edit it so that it points to an existing database with a different schema than the default membership one if you like.  If you are using VB, you could even run the whole thing through something like www.codechanger.com to make it easier for you to work with.

i am sort of struggling on how i can do this. I have a database with a table called Membership with Username, password, passwordquestion and password answer fields in. I don't really understand what i need to add to that database so that i can then have the roles.

Can anyone sort of help me out a little, it would be much appreciated.

The best thing to do if you haven't already started using your site is to use the Access database that was provided with the download - especially as you are using a Reserved Word for one of your field names.
